Hellephant Killer Snout: The Ultimate Hellcat Supercharger Upgrade

Updated: 10 hours ago

If you're chasing serious horsepower, airflow matters, and no component is more overlooked than the factory supercharger snout. At SDG Motorsports, we weren’t satisfied with just porting OEM snouts. So we built something better: the Hellephant Killer Snout, a true performance upgrade for IHI 2.4L, 2.7L, and 3.0L superchargers used in Hellcat, Demon, Redeye, Trackhawk, TRX, Super Stock, and even Hellephant platforms.

Most Hellcat owners focus on boost, pulleys, and fuel upgrades. Those matter, but the inlet side of the supercharger is one of the first places airflow becomes restricted.

You can spin the blower harder and add a larger throttle body, but if the snout is still choking airflow, you’re leaving power on the table. The Hellephant Killer Snout was designed to solve that problem at the source, not by modifying the factory casting, but by replacing it with a clean-sheet design built for airflow, strength, and reliability.

Why the Stock Hellcat Snout Is Holding You Back

Porting the OEM snout sounds good until you run into the limitations of the factory casting:

• Castings vary between years and platforms

• CNC porting can lead to dangerously thin walls

• Ported factory snouts are not true 108mm inlets

• Factory snouts taper back down internally, creating a restriction

• Welded reinforcements can crack or introduce porosity

• Core shift can create thin spots or break-through risk

• Aggressive porting around bosses and sensor areas can create sealing concerns

“I had seven different CNC programs just to keep up with OEM variations,” says Jesse Kloth, founder of SDG. “Eventually I hit a wall — literally. That’s when we decided to design the Hellephant Killer from scratch.”

What Makes the Hellephant Killer Snout Different

The Hellephant Killer Snout wasn’t designed to be a better ported factory snout. It was designed to eliminate the limitations of the factory snout completely.

True 108mm Inlet — No Taper

Most ported factory snouts still taper internally. That means even if the opening is enlarged at the throttle body, the airflow path still necks down before entering the supercharger.

The Hellephant Killer maintains a true 108mm inlet path, eliminating the choke point and helping the 108mm throttle body actually do its job.

Larger Internal Volume by Design

A factory snout can only be ported so far. The Hellephant Killer starts larger internally than what a factory snout can safely be machined to.

If you laid a stock snout over it, the factory piece would nearly fit inside.

No Welding, No Thin Spots, No Guesswork

Some ported snouts rely on welding to add material before machining. That can lead to cracks, porosity, and unmetered air leaks.

The Hellephant Killer avoids that completely. No welding. No patched castings. No core shift concerns. No blowing through thin factory material.

Built for Reliability, Not Just Airflow

The inlet bearing is properly staked, and the coupler is pinned to the shaft. These details help prevent common issues like coupler spin, loose fasteners, shaft damage, and rotor movement.

Considering a Ported Factory Snout?

If you're debating between porting your OEM snout or upgrading, it's worth understanding the real limitations first.

Built from the Ground Up for Airflow and Strength

The Hellephant Killer Snout isn’t a rework — it’s a reengineering.

  • True 108mm inlet (machined to 109mm for casting tolerance)

  • Thicker walls eliminate cracking risk under boost

  • Material added in key stress zones

  • OEM fitment maintained for sensors, bolts, brackets

  • No modifications required for install

It pairs perfectly with the Nick Williams 108mm throttle body, and unlike other "ported" snouts, this one is the real deal — designed for airflow, not just appearance.

Real-World Horsepower Gains

What can you expect when switching from an OEM snout?

  • Reduced inlet restriction (lower KPa readings)

  • Every 1 KPa drop = 5–7 HP when tuned correctly

  • 30–40+ whp gains when paired with a 108mm throttle body

  • Better throttle response and lower IATs in high-power builds

“It’s not just dyno gains. You can feel it in the seat,” says Jesse. “No more choking the blower with a cast-limited inlet.”

Designed to Handle Boost, Track Abuse, and Street Miles

Many SDG customers are daily driving or racing with our snouts for 50,000+ miles — with zero failures.

  • No cracks

  • No bolt-on compatibility issues

  • No tuning headaches (just re-tune for airflow)

Whether you’re pushing 12 psi or 22+, the structural integrity of the Hellephant Killer Snout stays rock-solid.

Made in the USA with Tight Tolerances and Tight QC

Every SDG snout is manufactured in the USA, held to tolerances within 5 microns, and documented for quality every 10 parts.

“We don’t ship anything we wouldn’t run ourselves. That’s the SDG difference.”

Conclusion: Don’t Port It, Replace It

The Hellephant Killer Snout is the final answer to the factory supercharger inlet restriction problem.

This isn’t a modified OEM part, it’s a clean-sheet design built for airflow, strength, and reliability.

If you're serious about making power, this is the upgrade that solves the problem instead of working around it.
